Research team
Tomislav Herceg is an associate professor at the Department of Economic Theory, where he teaches Fundamentals of Economics, Microeconomics and related subjects at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels in Croatian and English at the Universities of Zagreb and Dubrovnik, and the University of Belgrade. He is a co-author of several textbooks and manuals in the field of teaching activities, and was awarded the "Mijo Mirković Award" for his work in publishing teaching materials. In his scientific work, he focuses on total factor productivity, or technological progress, at the micro, meso and macro levels, in various groups and sections of the National Classification of Activities (agriculture, manufacturing, retail, trade, information and communication technology sector). The proposer has a specific scientific interest in studying the effects of digitization in production, especially how the concept of Industry 4.0 affects technological progress. In addition to the empirical, he is also active in the theoretical-model approach to microeconomics, with special emphasis on the long-term tendencies of business decisions. The specificity of this analysis is the applicability of the theoretical contribution to the solution of practical problems, applying the innovative concept of evolutionary game theory, which is interdisciplinary in nature because it connects economics, sociology and biology. For his work in this area, the author also received recognition "Ljubomir Martić".
Fran Galetić is an associate professor at the Department of Economic Theory, where he teaches Fundamentals of Economics and Microeconomics in Croatian, German, Spanish and English, as well as the elective course Economics of Latin America. He is very active in academic mobility. He is the author of several scientific papers, especially in the segment of market concentration and the competitive advantages that lead to it. He was a member of the organizational and program committees of several conferences and the editor of textbooks, manuals and scientific books, for which he received the Mijo Mirković Award. Experience in organizing and implementing these events and publications will be crucial for achieving the project goals, especially in reporting, organizing panels and publishing a scientific monograph upon completion of the project.
Martina Sopta is a full professor at the Department of Business Economics, teaching microeconomics and related professional subjects (cost management, profit management). Given her scientific expertise, which is focused on increasing efficiency, especially in cost management and sustainable profit growth trajectories, and her significant engagement in practice (management and supervisory boards of large companies such as Adris Group, Crodux, etc.), the associate will facilitate data acquisition, conducting surveys and combining theoretical and practical knowledge. In addition, the associate will control the execution and implementation of the financial plan, taking into account practical experience.
Ilko Vrankić is a full professor with tenure, Department of Economic Theory. Hea teaches Microeconomics on the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level on the Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Zagreb. He is an expert in the field of quantitative analysis, especially modeling and algebraic solutions of economic models. The associate will be key in the methodological part, especially in analyses that study and model the long-term repercussions of economic policies on the microeconomic environment, and most importantly on the technological progress of companies. In the mentioned area, the associate has works that confirm expertise in that area. Another role that the associate will have is that of finalizer of publications that are planned to be published.
Luka Pavelić is an assistant at the Department of Economic Theory. He is a doctoral candidate whose area of interest largely coincides with the topic of this project. The doctoral candidate will focus his scientific activity on the preparation of a dissertation that will fulfill the objectives of the research activities and achieve the results necessary for the successful completion of the project. The assistant is skilled in the use of software packages for econometric and factor analysis, and the planned expenses for further training will be focused on training and education in the field of applying quantitative methods in economic research.
